Safeguarding Our Waters

Since July 18, 1994, under the Freshwater and Salmon Fisheries (Scotland) Act 1976, the River Clyde has been designated as protected water. Fishing is therefore only allowed with the appropriate Freshwater permit before commencing fishing.

We rigorously enforce our permit rules with a team of dedicated Scottish Government appointed salmon bailiffs and river wardens.

Fishing without legal right or written legal permission i.e a permit is a criminal act.
