Why is UCAPA a ltd company?

In the seventies UCAPA became a limited company purely to limit the liability on its office bearers. Prior to that you became a member of UCAPA by the purchase of a Annual Permit and had in excess of 3500 members. At an AGM the Motherwell Town Hall was filled to over flowing. On becoming limited company, a separate membership had to be purchased in order to share the liability and attend the AGM. Today we have around 200 voting members and sell over 1000 freshwater annual and day permits.
